比起QCad社区版,LibreCAD的改变是:最新基于Qt4的用户界面（QCad社区版利用QT3）,插件系统,自动保存和更好的DXF文件读取.此外,QCad社区版正式仅可用于Linux（QCad本身是跨平台的,但不是免费的）,而LibreCAD是跨平台、免费的.
在这个版本中,LibreCAD是安定的,但仍旧需求改良,所以不要期望与专业利用程序相比,如AutoCAD.别的,LibreCAD不拿出文件 - 它最初包含QCad中的文档,但它已被删除,因为它不是在GPL协议下公布.
